And Pets Welcome!

Torbay is on the South Devon coastline and Brixham is a harbour town nestling to the west of the bay.Typical of its type, the town is built into the hillside surrounding the harbour. It has an active fishing fleet and an old fashioned air about it, with steps connecting the narrow streets and many old buildings. There is 23 miles of coastline making up Torbay, with 20 beaches and coves, Many of them dog friendly.

Rose Cottage sleeps 6/7, has two bathrooms and is situated up the hill in the old part of the town, near the church and close to The Battery Gardens yet within a few minutes walk of the harbour, shops and restaurants. Close by is Furzeham Green with its stunning views of the bay. Walk a little further and you come to The Battery Gardens and thence to Fishcombe Cove, a sheltered beach, with a footpath leading through the Gardens and back to the harbour and the Town.

There are many interesting and picturesque walks accessible on foot from the holiday cottages position plus three beaches and many more a short car journey away.

Brixham is a very dog friendly town, with water bowls outside many of the local shops and, with this in mind, we do welcome well behaved pets. We have a stair gate fitted and one guest bedroom with solid wood floor. There is a dog flap and dog bowls and dog beds if required.

There are three dog friendly beaches within walking distance and the nearest park, Furzeham Green, is a minute away.

About Us

What makes our holidays different?

We are family run, so there are no hidden charges or "booking fees" to pay.

Unlike an agency, we are always at the end of the phone line, day or night, weekday or weekend, to give help and advice when needed - No frustration for you when you need help on a Friday night!

We have a dedicated housekeeper, Lisa, who looks after Rose Cottage and takes great pride in ensuring guests have the best possible experience. She also gives us valuable feedback, so that we can continue to improve - not for us the team of ever-changing cleaners who don't notice when things need attention.

We organise and, where possible, do the maintenance and decorating ourselves, with good quality furnishings and co-ordinated decor  - This way we ensure that everything is as we would want it for a pleasant holiday.

Most importantly - We are not an anonymous website and telephone number -

 We are:

Tabitha, Polly,  Don, Margaret and Lisa and always happy to help!

Services

Lisa lives across the street and provides clean bedding and towels on a weekly basis as well as cleaning the cottage before guests arrive. During a two or more week holiday, Lisa will launder the bedding weekly and clean the bathrooms.

Brixham has a wealth of restaurants, many of them serving the locally caught seafood. There are pubs aplenty: "The Queen's Arms",  located on Station Hill, is a short walk from the cottage and is an Inn specialising in real ales.

Take the ferry over the bay to Torquay and you may be lucky enough to spot the dolphins which frequent Torbay or "Sid" the resident seal and his family.

Travel by steam train from Paignton to Kingswear along the coast and then up the river Dart on a river cruiser and back to Paignton by bus, to see the stunning scenery and historic and grand riverside houses. A great day out - take a picnic!

There are so many activities in and around Brixham, fishing trips, quad biking, sailing or just watching the world go by, if you like an active holiday or prefer to relax, you will surely find something to suit.
